Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup

Where tomorrow's MotoGP stars take their first big steps

The Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup is one of the most important junior championships in international motorcycle racing. Here, young talents from around the world come together to compete at the highest level and take the next step toward the MotoGP World Championship.

For Alessio Arnold #38, the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup is a major sporting goal on his path to the top. The international competition, the professional structures, and the proximity to MotoGP make this racing series a special challenge.

What is the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup?

The Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup is an international junior racing series that was launched in 2007 to specifically prepare young motorcycle racing talents for a career in the World Championship.

The races take place as part of select MotoGP weekends. This gives the young riders the opportunity to compete on the same racetracks as their role models and to experience the atmosphere of the World Championship up close.

All participants ride identical KTM RC 250 R race bikes featuring Moto3 technology. This puts the focus squarely on riding skills. What matters most are talent, racing intelligence, consistency, and the determination to prevail against the world’s best young riders.

The Significance

The Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup is considered one of the most important stepping stones into international motorcycle racing.

Numerous successful MotoGP riders gained their first major international experience here. Riders such as Pedro Acosta, Jorge Martín, Brad Binder, and Johann Zarco used the series as a crucial step on their path to the MotoGP World Championship.

Consequently, the demands and the level of competition are extremely high.

Starting spots are highly sought after and are awarded through a rigorous selection process. Those who prove themselves here can position themselves for the next step in their careers toward the Moto3 World Championship.

For young talents, the Rookies Cup is therefore far more than just a racing series. It is a unique opportunity to prove themselves on the international stage.

On the MotoGP race tracks

A special highlight of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup is its close connection to the Motorcycle World Championship.

Races take place on legendary Grand Prix circuits such as Jerez, Mugello, Assen, Sachsenring, Misano, and the Red Bull Ring in Austria.

The young riders experience race weekends under professional conditions. They learn to handle the pressure of major events, adapt to changing track conditions, and deliver their best performance when it counts.

For a young rider, these experiences are invaluable. After all, it’s not just about fast lap times—it’s also about preparing, step by step, for the demands of top-level international racing.
